The Great Land of Alaska

Alaska was a perfect family vacation destination. No crowds, no deadlines, no itinerary. We made no elaborate plans but instead got lost every day in the most beautiful surroundings nature has to offer. We rented a cabin in the woods at the base of Mount Alyeska in Girdwood, and ventured out on day trips. It was a beautiful home base with lots of yummy down-home restaurants and friendly people. The last time I visited Alaska was 1996. It’s alarming how much many of the glaciers have receded since then due to climate change. It was a great lesson for the kids and a wake up call for us. The natural beauty of Alaska is definitely something to be preserved and appreciated.
