First Day Hike: Wallace Falls

What better way to start the new year than with a hike with friends. Today, state parks all across the country offered guided family-friendly hikes as part of the First Day Hike program. We hiked about 5.5 miles roundtrip to Wallace Falls in Gold Bar, Washington. I wasn’t sure what to expect since this was only my second winter hike this year but it was a great morning! It was cold but sunny. The trails were clear and not icy. Once we got moving, I had to take a layer off to avoid sweating. There were a lot more people out on the trail than I expected and at least as many dogs as humans. I think this may be a new annual tradition.
